Africans in the Bundesliga to watch out for

The eyes of the sporting world will all turn to Germany’s top flight on Saturday as the Bundesliga returns after a 61-day hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the German government’s quick and effective response to the outbreak, the Bundesliga will be the first elite league in Europe to return to action while others (with the exception of the Dutch Eredivisie and French Ligue 1 who have cancelled their seasons) attempt to see if and how a resumption to their seasons would occur.

According to Transfermarkt, the African continent has a proud list of 25 players that are contracted to German clubs in the Bundesliga. Unlike the English Premier League, which hosts many of Africa’s most popular footballers, there are not many household names besides Achraf Hakimi and maybe Amadou Haidara. Many of the Africans playing in Germany are not household names.
