Al Ahly have ended their search for a foreign striker with the signing of Badji, having previously been linked to Luzern’s Blessing Eleke, Steaua Bucaresti’s Harlem Gnohere and CSKA Sofia’s Ali Sowe.
Badji joins Mahmoud Kahraba as the Red Devil’s second winter signing.
The 22-year-old Senegalese striker has been a constant fixture for Austria’s Rapid Vienna, scoring three goals in 16 games this season.
Badji represented the Senegal U21 national team at the 2017 youth AFCON and World Cup, losing in the final of the continental tournament to Zambia.
He began his career at Ziguinchor based Casa Sports, before he moved to Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgårdens IF in 2017.
After rejecting a move to China in January, he moved to Rapid Vienna for around €1.5 million.
Ahly will have to part ways with a foreign player to make space for Badji. It is likely that either Walid Azaro or Geraldo will be leaving the Cairo club.
