The former Lokomotiv Moscow winger was seen at the Naturena Village yesterday where he reportedly opened talks over his next move.
Sheppard and Hunt worked together for six years with three of those years as a player.
But Chiefs legend and current MDC coach Arthur Zwane is also earmarked to be part of the new-look technical team as he looks to be rewarded for the development of first-team talents Njabulo Blom, Siyabonga Ngezana, Happy Mashiane to name but a few.
Chiefs are expected to announce the full technical team before the club returns to pre-season next week.
