Speaking exclusively to AFHQ, the agent of TP Mazembe starman Jackson Muleka has responded to rumours linking his client to a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
A huge $2.5 million bid recently came in from the Red Devils for Muleka, although Mazembe are reported to have declined the offer.
Muleka’s agent insisted that there has been several contacts for the star man recently.
Muleka’s agent told African Football HQ: “The first contact that happened was between TP Mazembe and Olympique Marseille, in France.”
“Olymipque Marseille have showed interest but then TP Mazembe wanted conclude a deal [partnership deal] between both clubs where, should that partnership materialize, Muleka will be the first TP Mazembe player to play for Olympique Marseille but it didn’t happened eventually. We also had other contacts from Belgium clubs like Anderlecht and Standard Liege.” He added.
Aged just 20, Muleka has quickly established himself as one of the best players based in Africa. Having lifted the league title, CAF Confederation Cup and Super Cup already, the DRC international is already close to entering the record books in the CAF Champions League. He has 14 goals in his first 30 games, making him the joint 10th highest scorer in the history of Africa’s elite club competition.
His agent also confirmed that the $2.5 million bid from Al Ahly is true.
“Yes, Al Ahly are the only club to show true and solid interest in signing Muleka. They made contact with the owner of the club, Moise Katumbe.”
His agent made it clear that his client is fully focused on respecting his contract at TP Mazembe, and should he leave, his dream is a move to Europe.
However, Muleka’s agent is unsure what the decision of TP Mazembe owner will be since his sees Al Ahly as his competitors in Africa:
“Am not sure if the President [Moise Katumbe] will sell Jackson Muleka to Al Ahly since he doesn’t do business with his competitors.” He cited.
Muleka has scored three goals in seven appearances for the DR Congo senior national team since making his debut last year.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of this transfer saga. Will Al Ahly return with a greater offer for Muleka, or will he seal a transfer deal to Europe? Time will tell.
