Nambia striker Peter Shaluile has opened talks with reigning Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has been in search for a reliable goalscorer and with red-hot Shalulile on 14 goals already this season, Masandawana have targeted the 27-year-old.
Highlands Park’s long-term future has become increasingly uncertain with reports in South African media suggesting their top-flight status will be sold and Downs have now earmarked Shaluile and teammate Mothobi Mvala.
AFHQ reached out to the Lions of the North chairman Brad Kaftel who opted to remain coy of the speculation.
“Nothing is concluded yet so I can’t confirm anything at this time,” he said. “These reports are forecasts.”
Despite remaining diplomatic on their impending exits, it’s noteworthy the Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe suggested they were in talks with two foreign players when they announced the contract extension of Mosimane before the resumption of the Absa Premiership season.
The former Tura Magic star has scored 22 goals in 66 games in the South African top-flight since helping Highlands earn promotion in 2016.
