Following the shock announcement of Pitso Mosimane’s departure from Mamelodi Sundowns, rumours spurred that Uruguayan playmaker Gaston Sirino would follow Pitso from Cape Town to Cairo.
Sirino was previously linked to Al Ahly but reports of a potential move were quelled when he signed a five year extension with Sundowns.
AFHQ exclusively spoke to Mamelodi Sundowns General Manager Yogesh Singh to get the inside scoop on what was coming next for Sundowns.
Singh revealed that contrary to many reports, assistant coach Rulani Mokwena will not follow Pitso to Al Ahly. Moreover, he revealed to African Footabll HQ that analyst Musi Matlaba would be the only member of the club staff to move to Ahly.
On the topic of Sirino, Singh set a price tag of $50m USD for the 29-year-old, indicating that it would take an absurd coup from Al Ahly if they want to acquire their maestro.
