Ghana youngster moves to La Liga

Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professional have sold a promising young midfielder to Spanish La Liga side Granada.

Granada confirmed the signing of Mubarak Alhassan, 18, on a five-year deal on Thursday.

Alhassan is one of the most heralded young Ghanaians based in Ghana. He scored five goals and provided five assists in 12 league games before the season was postponed.

Mubarak Alhassan has the opportunity to play in the UEFA Europa League this upcoming season – due to El Graná finishing 7th in La Liga this season with 56 points.

“This is the best moment in my career to make this move because everyone wants an opportunity like this,” Alhassan told Citi Sports.

The attacking midfielder believes playing in Spain will suit him well:

“At an early age, I have always wanted to play for clubs in Spain because I see myself as an [Andres] Iniesta type of player and I was given that name too so I think it’s the best place for me to develop as at now.” Alhassan concluded.

Liberty Professional were 14th in the league (out of 18 teams).
