Ghanaians and African football fans were left upset after Ghanaian wonderkid Mohammed Kudus was injured just minutes into his UEFA Champions League debut.
Many were raring to see Kudus, 20, take on Liverpool’s African stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Just six minutes into the match though he was forced out of the game after a poor landing on his leg following a knee-to-knee collision with Fabinho.
The Premier League champions were held by Ajax for a large part of the game. They only conceded an own-goal in the 35th minute to lose 1-0.
Ajax have now confirmed that Mohammed Kudus will be out of action for ‘several months’ as a result of a meniscus injury suffered on his Champions League debut.
“Mohammed Kudus has suffered a meniscus injury that will keep him sidelined for several months,” Ajax wrote on their Twitter page.
The Right to Dream Academy product has only played four official matches with Ajax since he was signed from Danish SuperLiga side Nordsjaelland for about €9m this summer. Despite this, he has already impressed immensely with his new side, even scoring on the weekend.
