European and English champions Liverpool FC are reportedly interested in signing Real Betis and Algeria centre-back Aissa Mandi.
Betis are in an uncertain position following the arrival of new manager Manuel Pellegrini – who is looking to shake things up – and the failed sale of Moroccan defender Zouhair Feddal to Sporting Lisbon.
Liverpool are in the market for another centre-back following the sale of Dejan Lovren to Zenit St Petersburg in a £10.8m deal.
Sources have told COPE that the Reds have made a bid of €10m for Mandi.
Mandi, 28, has a €30m release clause but the situation at Betis, combined with Mandi only having one year left on his contract, could force Betis to ‘significantly lower’ their demands.
It would be a great piece of business for Liverpool. Mandi was one of the best centre-backs in La Liga this season, averaging 1.1 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game this season.
