Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of highly-rated Democratic Republic of Congo international striker Jean-Marc Makusu.
Following the injury layoffs of Malawi star Gabhanho Mahango – who won the 2019/20 Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot – the Soweto giants have reacted quickly by signing Makusu on a season-long deal with an option to buy from AS Vita.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club have secured the service of the Democratic Republic of the Congo forward Jean-Marc Makusu Mundele from AS Vita,” the statement reads.
“[Makusu] signed earlier this week after passing his medical initially joins on a season-long loan, which includes the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.”
Makusu scored 24 goals in the 2018/19 season before a horrific leg-break prevented his lucrative transfer to Botola side RS Berkane and subsequently ruled him out for the entire 2019/20 campaign.
