South African giants Orlando Pirates made headlines across the continent when reports broke that they were looking to sign Ghana’s number one goalkeeper Richard Ofori from Maritzburg United.
The negotiations are now heating up as Maritzburg United Chairman Farook Kadodia revealed some details of the deal to the press.
“I can now confirm that we’ve allowed Orlando Pirates to begin talks with Richard Ofori. Once the deal is concluded they will make an announcement.”
Ofori, 26, began his career at Accra-based second-division side Westland FC. He joined Wa Allstars in 2012, where his impressive performances over the years saw him linked to clubs in Europe and across Africa.
He joined PSL side Maritzburg United on a three-year-deal in 2018, where he has been a regular fixture for the mid-table side.
Pirates are looking to move on from 37-year-old shotstopper Wayne Sandilands, and it seems that Ofori will be his replacement.
