Percy Tau is on the verge of another loan move to Belgium – but this time it’s to his former side’s biggest rivals.
Tau bid farewell to Club Brugge following the expiration of his season-long loan deal last week. He scored three goals and registered four assists in 18 games as he helped the club win the league and romp towards the Belgian Cup final.
The Bafana Bafana stars signed for English Premier League side Brighton on a four-year contract in 2018 for a record transfer fee of a South African domestic-based player reported being in the region of R50-million ($3-million).
Two years later though, he is yet to make an official appearance for The Seagulls after work-permit issues rendered him ineligible for registration in the English top-flight.
He has been loaned out twice, first to Union SG – where he won the Proximus Player of the season – then to Brugge where he enjoyed a blistering start and starred in the UEFA Champions League before a loss of form in the second half of the campaign.
With work permit issues persisting, the temporary switch to Jupiler Pro League giants Anderlecht is believed to be imminent as the club’s technical team were left impressed by his displays during their recent league encounters.
According to Belgian publication HLN, the 34-time league champions are quite close to announcing the deal but have not released any information to the media due to the recent transfer hi-jacking of Mbaye Diagne by Brugge in January.
