Ligue 1 side Rennes have completed the signing of Dijon central defender Nayef Aguerd, Rennes announced.
Talks had been ongoing between Dijon and Rennes for several weeks, but a breakthrough was made this week, with a reported €4M fee being agreed upon.
The Moroccan, 24, had just a year remaining on his contract with DFCO. He joins Rennes on a four-year-transfer
Aguerd began his footballing career at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, before moving to FUS Rabat in 2014. After four seasons, he joined Dijon.
He won the 2018 CHAN with Morocco.
Aguerd explained his move to Rennes:
“I am very happy to join Rennes. They are club that I needed to take the next step. I was able to exchange with Julien Stéphan before my arrival, and I was convinced by the footballing project. I can’t wait to meet the squad, to be able to train with my colleagues and of course discover the Champions’ League.”
Aguerd made 29 appearances in his two seasons with Dijon, scoring four goals.
