Salah fifth-highest earner in world football

Although the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are by far the game’s highest earners, Egypt international Mohamed Salah was the only African representative on this lucrative list.

According to Forbes as per, Messi earned a staggering £98million last season from his £988,000 weekly wage, plus his various endorsements with the likes of Adidas and Lays’.

In second place, Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo raked in £91million over the past 12 months. The 34-year-old Portugal international recently became the highest European goal scorer at international level after surpassing the 100 goal mark against Sweden in the UEFA Nationals League earlier this month.

Liverpool’s Salah came in fifth place, above the likes of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and FC Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann.

The Reds forward has continued to fly the flag high for African football alongside the Sadio Mane in the English Premier League. Becoming a crucial cog in his club’s first league triumph in 30 years, and scoring a staggering 97 goals in three seasons, the former Chelsea man earned £28.8million last season.
