Former Bidvest Wits midfielder Cole Alexander has joined Indian Super League (ISL) Odisha FC on a two-year deal following the sale of Bidvest Wits.
Alexander played a starring role in the ‘clever boys’ midfield during the 2019/20 season, helping the club finish inside the top 8.
The 31-year old reunites with former Super Sport United and Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter who is serving as the head coach of Odisha and hoping to achieve “everything possible” with the Indian club.
The former Polokwane City midfielder improved significantly in recent seasons, earning him regards as one of the best midfielders in the PSL era.
Odisha head coach Stuart Baxter, who won several trophies in the PSL during his time with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Super Sport United, is full of praise for the Bafana international.
“His personality will enrich our squad environment and I am sure he will be very popular among our fans.” Said Baxter.
The new ISL season is expected to start in November. Matches will be played behind closed doors at three venues while Mohun Bagan will be making their ISL debut this season.
