Mamelodi Sundowns have announced departure club legends Wayne Arendse and Anthony Laffor after an incredible eight-year stint.
Arendse, 36, joined the club on a free transfer following the relegation of Santos to National First Division while the 35-year-old Laffor joined from cross town to rivals Supersport United where he won three consecutive league titles.
Both players played a vital role in Masandawana’s success over the last eight years which also saw the club conquering Africa and taking part in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The pair featured over 300 matches combined and won almost every domestic title except for MTN 8 under coach Pitso Mosimane who left the club in September to join Al Ahly.
“A special thanks to the two Sundowns legends who have given their time and efforts to the club and have been part of Masandawana’s success over the years,” the club said in a short statement.
It remains to be seen if the veteran duo who won 22 trophies combined together will join PSL rivals or hang up their boots.
Two of the most decorated players to ever grace the football field and wear the Green and Yellow!💛💚
